Thrusting the knife into the chopping board is not harder than turning over your hand. Shapness that can not be imagined.

The concept is really direct to see through. But this is really quite common among the massive similar ads for knives. What's more, the chopping seems to be soft and you can even see the wrinkles on it. I do not think it is a proper one for a knife's ad to show the sharpness.

Well, at least, the knife looks good. Hats off to the art director~ lol

The sentence which is placed in the right top corner in this poster means: Only the introspection of the culture could lead the renaissance of our nation.

Well, the moment you see the Christmas hat you always know who is wearing it— of coures the Santa Claus! Anyway, you are wrong this time. It is the Monkey King who becomes the owner of this hat in China.

It seems like that the Christmas, known as the famouse western festival, is going to be orientalized in China gradually from its content to the representative character—Santa Clause.

This reminds me something about Baidu & Google search engine. The former is with great local advantage and occupies almost 70% of China search engine market while the latter is with advanced tech but poor localization and only gains about 20% market share.

Now we can see how important the Chinese element is and how it influence a foregin brand in China. And this maybe the concept that the poster is trying to tell us.

KyleChin on Dior's "Shanghai Dreamers" Compaign: Racialism or Herald?

Recently Dior has released its "Shanghai Dreamers" compaign, which is constituted by a series of haute couture prints photographed by local talent---Quentin Shih, continuing its "love affair with out city" in Shanghai. The compaign, anyway, has has triggered accusations that it's images of cloned Chinese people behind - usually - a white model dressed to the nines are pretty racist.

Shin's explanation on his site about this accussation is as follow:"they replicate themselves, wearing plastic clothes, they stand on display in vast spaces or upon a stage - because they were, and still are dreamers. As China enters a new era, they begin to stand together upon a world stage, self-conscious and yet filled with power." But some have wondered why, while all the Chinese people are replicated in their "plastic clothes", how come the ones that stand out are almost all Caucasian? How does this represent any ability to stand on a world stage except for as an accessory of a white person? And doesn't this kind of feel like another "all look same" joke?

Well, leave the so called racialism aside, as to me, first of all, this kind of expressing style looks a bit strange; secondly, it gains a success in extruding Dior's haute counture indeed. Compared with the repeated faces behind or around her, she is an obviously eye-catcher in all of the prints. And her dressing will also attract people on the first sight. Maybe this is what Dior trying to express---Choose Dior, Choose Distinction.

As to the racist people are arguing about all the time, I feel like they are just showing their self-abased quality! The photographer, who is also a Chinese with purism art attitude, perhaps had never thought of such kind of racialism thing when he was creating this series of prints before. What he tried to do was to just find an approach to offer the striking visual effect for Dior in this compaign. Why do people think that the Chinese people in these prints are being discriminated? Just because they are replicates of one signle person? Hey, that is just one of the techniques of expression! About nothing else at all!
Here is my advise, relax and just treat it as an art work and ad compaign. Do not have a brainstorming on it any more.

The prints are as follows:

Eight days ago an ad vedio of DCE's cosmetic product was posted on Youku with the title of "Yan Liu's Latest Ad Being Rejected by CCTV".

And today when I check this vedio again and find that it has already become the hottest vedio on Youku in this month. Now I believe that the so called "rejected by CCTV" is nothing more than an ad strategy and it is quite successful.

Yan Liu, who is well known for her hot stature & pretty face and works as the anchorwoman in Hunan Tv, has been asked to endorse DCE's new cosmetic product and join into the ad compaign which is highly thought of by her fans. Unfortunately this ad was rejcted by CCVT soon after its first releasing.

Though CCTV despises it. Though there is a clow-like dreadful man and clumsy plot in it. Netizens still love it! The vedio only spends 8 days to become the hottest one on youku and also it is pretty hot in tudou.com and ku6.com.

So, it seems to be fortunate for this ad to be rejected by CCTV. And meanwhile, we can discover that the influence of the internet is not weaker than CCTV, or even a little stronger than CCVT, isn't it?

Here is the vedio on Youku:

Change, one of the ad agencies in Shanghai, recently has released a series of ad prints for their client—VanTone Real Estate (Tianjin) who had develpoed one SOLO apartment building which is named One More Room in Tianjin.

Here are some explanations for the words in the prints and I hope this will help you to understand this ad comapign better:

For the first print: The meanning of the striking white words is that profit is beyond everything. And after that here is a sentence to explain the tagline: Profit is the only standard for you to decide to make an investment or not. The eternal investing principle is to discover the good chance befor anyone else.

For the second print: To invest aboveboard! Lay out the surprising down payment which is as low as 180 thousands RMB and you are just going to enjoy the bright future in Tianjin!

For the third print: To purchase without any guilty feeling! Investment should not be limitted while new policies of the real estate markt keep coming out. One More Room (the name of this apartment) owns pure business property right which enables you to invest infinitely.

It is ture that there are so many wealthy people who purchase apartments or houses not for living, but selling or renting to others to make money. And this is why the Chinese government is now releasing new policies constantly to forbid people to own too much real estate properties.

Leave the words' information aside, now let's see the interesting pictures which are made of two parts— one single fish and a pile of crowded fish. And the single fish has a name aside it: One More Room. It is pretty clear that if you want to free yourself from the crowded fish group, the only thing you need to do is to choose One More Room.

After the bankruptcy of PPG, Vancl has become the leader of the internet clothes industry. With the continuous expanding of its occupation of Chinese market, Vancl's ad compaigns are no longer limited on internet. Recently we are able to find a lot of Vancl's latest light box ads which are endorsed by Han Han 7 May Wang(Luodan Wang) in almost every bus station or metro way station in Shanghai & Beijing.

Nian Chen, the founder and CEO of Vancl, used to indicate publicly that he really appreciated the internet spirit which Han Han standed for and hoped he would endorse for Vancl sometime in future.

Han Han, China's rebel writer who has become the unofficial voice for his generation, earned the accolade as one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people of 2009. He's been touted as mouthpiece for the "post-80's generation"; China's youth who have grown up during the country's economic boom and are often characterized as apolitical and consumer-obsessed.

And May Wang, who becomes the most pop actress in recent years after her wonder performance in the teleplay called Strive(Fen Dou), also represents the young generation which is mainly born after 1980.

In April, 2010, Vancl, whose concepts are young, fashion and distinctive, has been successfully endorsed by Han Han & May Wang and a series of light box ads are released soon afterwoards.

Google, whose expanding in China mainland must be tortuous, starts reselecting its partner while it has just announced the reopenning of its business in China.

On 21st,July, Google proclaimed it would officially stop technical support for Tianya, one of China's most famous social site who had been cooperated with Google for about 3 years, on it's SNS and Q&A services.

Google previously made strategic investment in Tianya and co-launched the two services. However, Tianya announced in late March that it might take full control of the services after Google ran into censorship problems with the Chinese government.

Tianya said that it would operate its own Q&A service(Tianya Wenda) and SNS(Tianya Laiba) in the future.

Beijing-based social network site (SNS) Mayi.com has announced it will shut down, claiming that US payment services company Mezabay and Singaporean company Legend Venture Pte have not honored a recently signed funding agreement. Despite repeated pleas from Mayi, the two investors have not transferred funds, interrupting cash flow and forcing the company to discontinue operations. Mayi has completely closed and all personnel have been laid off, with the website scheduled to close on July 30.

Mayi.com will cease all services between now and July 30, save for allowing currently registered users to download their photos and journal entries. As of July 30, Mayi.com's servers will go offline and cease domain name resolution.

Mayi.com is a business-oriented social networking site that allows users to keep journal entries, have online discussions and exchanges

through integrated blog and BBS functionality. CEO Mai Tian has already taken a new position overseeing Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) SNS division.

Pepsi's World Cup campaign "Collect the cap, Win cash prize" recently became the focus of the media. Many netizens complained that the winning rate of the lucky draw is way too low. And when they tried to ask for information, they can never get through with the dedicated hotline.

In fact, many consumers posted their requests on BBS such as Tianya.com, Baidu Tieba and Mop.com etc., offering to exchange or buy the cap with different team names and the word "Champion" which are key for winning the cash prize. Thousands of netizens responded but none of them has the required team caps.

Insider in Shanghai calculated the odds. The chance of winning the big prize "RMB2,010 cash" is even lower than normal lottery. Pepsi's PR division refused to comment before confirming details.
