Letting kids play with fire.

A belated happy new years to you my fellow propaganda professionals. I’ve been off for a while as you may (or may not) have noticed; this was due to holidaying in Thailand, a place that lends itself to, well… forgetting about writing on blogs for one. What made me forget about it all? I’m going to tactfully evade that question until everything I did gets legalized first.

Suffice it say I was on Haad Rin beach (where the full moon party takes place each month) where I saw this kid playing with fire; or fire spear (staff?) akin to Darth Maul’s double-sided lightsaber from the prelude Star Wars triligy. Being the concientiuous guy that I am; I’ve decided to post it up for all to enjoy. The kid stumbles a bit in the middle; but finishes nicely to the applause of drunken western adults (I’m the one who keeps going “woooo!”). After swinging his fire stick, the kid then went around selling… flowers.

Herein lies a lesson us admen must learn – first wow them with spectacle (potential to scar-yourself-for-life optional), and then while their mouths are still hanging open; pry open their wallets and sell them trinkets and baubles.

But perhaps we’re lucky enough to sell something people want? Perhaps God, Buddha, or Allah in his (their?) infinite wisdom has allowed us to sell something we truly love, respect and admire? Well sir; still put on the fire show, cause life is lived once, and to really live life, you gotta play with fire… without getting burned.

Happy new year to you and yours; I hope 2010 brings success and happiness, for each and everyone.
