Big brands are taking advantage of viral videos to economically spread the word; and push the “cool” modern brand image. This is a refreshing approach to the traditional visual pitch; here’s a few samples from Nokia and Intel:
Nokia used amazing Taiwanese magician Liu Qian’s magic act to cause a viral sensation in China. Mixing his very approachable personality with dramatic magic effects, it’s really no wonder why he’s so popular. Great move by Nokia to ride on his up and coming coat tail to get huge brand exposure. Videos received 285,000 video views and over 650 comments within the first 24 hours of posting. Wow.
Cool video, but an Intel Core 2 Quad just to play Tetris? I predict a Intel will receive a digital mountain of geek-enraged emails.
Intel’s viral is a bit more obvious as a company sponsored stunt, yet still fun to watch. Playing Tetris on the environment, first in a construction site, and next using the lights of a skyscraper. Great dramatic visuals mixed with interesting accessible content.
